What is Defense of the Ancients?

Defense of the Ancients (often referred to as DotA) is a custom scenario for Warcraft III The Frozen Throne based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for Starcraft The objective of the scenario is to destroy the opponents' "Ancient". The two teams' ancients are heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters called "creeps". As in role-playing-game, players level up their hero and use gold to buy equipment during the mission.

The scenario was developed with the World of Editor of Warcraft III Reign of Chaos , and was updated upon the release of the Warcraft expansion The Frozen Throne. There have been many variations of the original concept; currently, the most popular is DotA Allstars, which has been maintained by several authors during development.

Since its release, Allstars has become a feature at several worldwide tournaments, including Blizzard Entertainment’s BlizzCon and the Asian World Cyber Games, as well as the Cyberathlete Amateur and CyberEvolution leagues; Gamasutra declared that DotA was perhaps the most popular "free, non-supported game mod in the world". The variant is cited as an inspiration for the upcoming video game Demigod

The Lightning Shivanant! part 2

THE TANK/AOE DMG DEALER

Well going this way you`ll sacrifice early to mid activity but the more the game progresses the bigger monster that you`ll become... You are going to carry and quite effectively be able to take care of late game image heroes and as a whole inflict good area damaged.

SKILL PROGRESSION

lvl 1 Plasma Field
lvl 2 Unstable Current
lvl 3 Plasma Field
lvl 4 Unstable Current
lvl 5 Plasma Field
lvl 6 Eye of the Storm
lvl 7 Plasma Field
lvl 8 Unstable Current
lvl 9 Static Link
lvl 10 Static Link
lvl 11 Eye of the Storm
lvl 12 Static Link
lvl 13 Static Link
lvl 14 Unstable Current
lvl 15 stats
lvl 16 Eye of the Storm
lvls 17-25 stats

Plasma Field and Unstable Current are picked first for farming, escaping ganks and overall mobility.Static Link you don`t need in the beginning since you`ll be aiming for a strong mid-late game and then is when you`ll make better use of this skill after you obtained some good tank coz it will be possible to be in the heat of battles without dying... Your ultimate is too good to be missed so you get it when you can.

early to mid game items

Early game you will be just a farmer/harasser and a supporter in pushes/defends...well you can go gank but don`t push yourself coz dying is not a good thing and will definitely slow you down..Power Treads and Vitality Booster you get for some more EHP and AS that will be helpful later when you get your Static Link.Bottle and RoB are picked for regen purposes and are cheap and are going to last for the whole game in your inventory. With TP Scrolls you`ll be able to move to locations for farming or helping your team when needed. You can also pick some Clarity Potions if you have mana problems...

PT or BoT...!? Now I know that some people will argue that BoT are clearly superior and there is no sense in picking PT but I prefer the hp boost from them early for better survivability and the attack speed bonus comes handy coz we are not getting any other item that boost it until late game so it will be useful when we get a good Static Link. If you still prefer BoT just don`t upgrade your Boots of Speed and get it mid game...

mid game items

Aiming straight for high tier items means you`ll be fragile for some time or at least until you lvl up a bit and obtain Shiva`s Guard so for making it I advice you to get the Plate Mail first for the better survivability it will provide.
Shivas...is an item that just perfectly synergies with all of your skills...Is a must and offers too much to not rush it... Shiva`s Guard gives you loads of armor for survivability, enough mana pool and mana regen to spam all your spells constantly, a nice team bonus for slowing AS of enemies and even that if it`s not much it`s an extra...a nuke combined with Plasma Field that deals round 500 dmg and will be great when there are people around...and an active most useful for small fights to just slow down an enemy and build up dmg by Static Link... and lets not forget the farming frenzy that comes with it...

HoT... Oh well this for not dying obviously coz Razor need some time for his skills to kick in.Clearly you`ll have to be in the heat of the battle to be useful for the team and this item just solves all your survivability problems and being a rushed second pick obtained fast after you got your Shiva that boosts your farming means it will be just a nasty surprise for your enemies...

late game finishers

Maelstrom is picked for the cheap aoe dmg and the possibility to upgrade it to Mjollnir - getting it coupled with HoT and your high armor just means that you can bring havoc in the enemy team for a long long time coz you`ll be hard to kill and if they decide to concentrate fire on you they will be heavily punished by Static Charge... so for them it will be a loss/loss situation.Even if they decide to ignore you you can always put the buff to someone else - Static Charge is very useful and the item itself gives loads of dmg/attack speed and some armor... and after all you`re a Lightning Revenant right...!? So you`ll be hurling lightnings all over the place...

afterword for part two
By building Razor this way you`ll have a somewhat weak early game by just supporting and spamming Plasma Field and EotS in battles or disabling a dps-er with your Static Link when it is safe to do it and kick hard after that but this will be compensated by a strong mid presence and a late game quite mobile elephant radiating damage all over the place...
